Badminton News: World number one Chong Wei skips Asian meet

CHENNAI (Reuters) - Malaysian world number one and all England champion Lee Chong Wei will skip next month's Asian championships in New Delhi, organisers told Reuters on Saturday.
However, world and Olympic champion Lin Dan of China has confirmed his participation and will lead a strong field that also includes Indonesian world number three Taufik Hidayat for the April 12-18 tournament.
More than 300 players from 20 Asian countries will take part in the $150,000 prize money competition for both men and women, also a test event for the Commonwealth Games to be staged in the Indian capital later this year.
Women's world champion Lu Lan of China has confirmed her participation, Badminton Association of India president V.K. Verma said.
