KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif have raised questions on their ability to carry the challenge as the second doubles pair in the Malaysian team for the Thomas Cup Finals.
They were beaten by the back-up squad’s Tan Wee Kiong-Mak Hee Chun in a simulation exercise at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here yesterday. But chief doubles coach Rexy Mainaky said that there was nothing to worry about over in their 21-18, 15-21, 17-21 defeat.

Badminton Video: Badminton Asia Championship 2010 Men Singles Finals Badminton - Lin Dan VS Wang Zhengming

An interesting counter between the Olympic champion, Lin Dan and his fellow junior teammate, Wang Zhengming who is only 20 year old but has won both the World and Asian Junior Championships in 2008. Being the first international tournament that Wang is playing in, his performance so far in the tournament has been superb, beating Shoji Sato and then Kenichi Tago, the recent runner-up in All England.

KUALA LUMPUR: National singles chief coach Rashid Sidek will be on a double mission at the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC), which begins today in New Delhi.
He will have to take over Hendrawan’s duties, including charting the strategies of the singles players, headed by Mohd Hafiz Hashim, after the Indonesian coach was prevented from making the trip to India because of visa problems.

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesia are testing out new scratch combinations in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in a bid to form solid doubles pairings at the Thomas Cup Finals.
And Malaysia’s back-up doubles shuttler Mak Hee Chun does not want to be the first victim of their experiment.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tickets for the Thomas-Uber Cup Finals, scheduled to be held from May 9-16 at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, are finally on sale.
Fans can catch all the action by purchasing the tickets priced between RM28 and RM103 each.
The most expensive tickets are on the final day, with tickets costing RM53 for regular seating arena, RM73 for the lower tier and RM103 for the best seats.
Fans can also watch all the matches from the group stages right up to the final day by purchasing the RM225 season pass (regular seating).
Students too can enjoy special price for two days – on May 9-10. They only need to fork out RM18 to watch the matches on each day.

PETALING JAYA: The T-shirt Lee Chong Wei wore in the All-England final last month has been auctioned off for US$437 (RM1,400).
The world No. 1 defeated Kenichi Tago of Japan to emerge as the 100th All-England men’s singles champion.
The auction was carried out by Solidarity Badminton Foundation (Solibad) and the money raised will be used to help under-privileged children.
